Guernsey Police said that their Alderney colleagues have been contacted by OFCOM “about an alleged illegal radio transmitter operating out of Alderney”.

“Officers are now working with the regulator to both inform islanders about this and stop the transmissions taking place,” confirmed Guernsey Police.

It comes as Alderney’s online station Riduna Radio published a statement distancing themselves from the investigation launched by the Office of Communications (OFCOM).

In a post on Facebook yesterday, the exclusively online broadcaster said: “Riduna Radio Limited would like to make it clear that the letter distributed by Guernsey Police to properties on Alderney today, including Riduna Radio, have absolutely nothing to do with Riduna Radio Limited.

“Our technical manager, Brian Chambers, contacted OFCOM who have confirmed that this investigation does not involve Riduna Radio at all.

“They are investigating reports of illegal broadcasts on an FM frequency.”

Express has reached out to OFCOM for comment on the ongoing investigation.
