Islanders who do not want their personal information shared with UK credit reference agencies can now opt out online.
The government will begin securely sharing basic personal information – such as name, residential address and date of birth – with Experian and Equifax from Thursday 30 July.
It forms part of measures to improve access to financial products, such as credit cards.
Islanders who do not want their data shared can opt out by calling 01534 444444 before 5pm on Wednesday 29 July, or by adjusting their data sharing preferences online at services.gov.je before 11.59pm on Wednesday 29 July.
Opting out may make it harder to access some financial products, such as credit cards.
Islanders who are happy for their information to be shared do not need to take any action.
