A group of youths allegedly threw traffic cones at people outside La Fregate in what is being investigated by police as a “racially aggravated assault”.
Police are appealing for information following the incident, which took place on Friday 2 May at around 23:00 at Jardins de la Mer on the Esplanade.
The police appeal stated: “A group of approximately 10–12 youths who were in the area walked past a table of people who were sat outside La Fregate.
“Some comments regarding race were made and traffic cones were thrown at the table by the youths.
“The youths then proceeded to assault members of the table.”
The force confirmed that the incident is being treated as a “racially aggravated assault”.
Police said that many people were in the area at the time.
Officers would like to speak with anyone who witnessed this incident, or who can identify those involved.
