Officers said the robbery was reported to have taken place at a property at the top of Old St. John’s Road near to the junction of New St. John’s Road between 02:45 and 03:15 last Friday.

During the incident, the man – described as “vulnerable” by Police – was assaulted and £6,300 in cash was stolen from his bedside drawer.

Police now want to speak with a man who walked from Cheapside through town towards Belmont Road in the early hours on that same day.

CCTV footage shows the man, dressed in a light coloured hoody, dark jacket, light trousers and black footwear walking from Cheapside at 03:19, through Parade Park, Burrard Street, Minden Place and Bath Street before turning into Belmont Road at about 03:26.

“This person is not suspected of any wrongdoing but could help with police enquiries,” the Force said.
