A percentage will also be sent to the Royal British Legion in the UK to support the work they do there.

Allan Brown, Royal British Legion Public Relations Officer, (Jersey Branch): “On behalf of the Chairman, committee and all members of the Royal British Legion (Jersey Branch) I would like to convey our sincere and heartfelt thanks to the community of Jersey and our team of incredible volunteers for the success of this year’s Poppy Appeal. £160,000 is a significant sum that truly reflects the close relationship between the Island and the Armed Forces.”

The charity says volunteers here work tirelessly all year round to support them, especially during the Poppy Appeal leading up to Remembrance Sunday and over the Christmas period.

This November they had a number of new volunteers join their team, helping to man stalls and rattling tins.
