The section of promenade between Sands and the Watersplash has now been closed to the public, who are urged to stay well away from the area.

Civil works engineers have conducted a full assessment of the damage, which they said was caused by the recent high tides.

“Parts of concrete which form the promenade walkway along the seawall have broken off due to the large spring tides and strong waves,” Civil Works Manager Dave O’Brien explained.

“We are asking the public to please avoid the area until further notice for their own safety whilst we put temporary fencing in place. I thank the public for understanding whilst we work to fix the area.”
