Public trust in Jersey’s institutions has rebounded after several years of decline, with confidence rising across almost every major local body, a new survey has shown.
The latest Jersey Opinions and Lifestyle Survey found that islanders trust institutions such as the States of Jersey Police, Government departments and the judicial system more than they did last year – marking a reversal of a downward trend that began in 2022.
Average trust levels increased for “nearly all” organisations measured, including the States Assembly and local media, according to the annual study published by Statistics Jersey.

Government departments recorded the most significant improvement, with average trust climbing from 5.2 in 2024 to 5.9 this year.
Trust also rose for local parishes, charities and Statistics Jersey itself.
The Honorary Police was the only organisation not to see an increase, with trust levels remaining unchanged.
The Jersey Opinions and Lifestyle Survey is based on anonymous responses from randomly selected households and tracks public attitudes across a range of social and political issues.
