The £100 notes were part of a 2012 issue to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of Her Majesty the Queen.
The £100 note issue formed part of a celebratory series of events at the time, which included a presentation to the National Portrait Gallery of the Jersey Heritage-commissioned holographic portrait of The Queen, ‘Equanimity’.
The special notes could only be obtained from the Treasury Cashiers at Cyril Le Marquand House, the main States administrative building, where the Taxes Office is located. They could either be bought at face value or within a presentation wallet for £5 extra.
Despite being a commemorative piece, the note is perfectly legal tender and can be used to pay at island retailers.
