Jersey Met say it was the wettest January since records began back in 1894.

A total of 190.9 mm of rain fell, beating the last wettest January, 28 years ago.

Even though you might have been getting a soaking, it was a bit warmer. The average temperature was 7.8 degrees celsius, over a degree warmer than the 30-year average but not nearly as cold as it was back in 1963, the coldest January on record when it was averaging a chilly 0.8 degrees celsius.

We didn’t see much sunshine though – just 60.9 hours of it, ten hours less than the average over the last 30 years.

It’s been a drizzly and wet start to February too and although there will be some sunny periods today and tomorrow, you’ll need to have your umbrella handy!
