The third edition of the fun-filled day will take place on 30 June and 1 July at the Royal Jersey Showground in Trinity.
Launched in May 2016, ‘It’s a Knockout Challenge’ has helped raised £24,000 and £26,000 in its first two editions for the Special Care Baby Unit and Robin Ward. The funds raised helped buy equipments, support families in the community and provide financial assistance for families travelling to the UK for specialist neo-natal or pediatric treatment as well as sponsorship of accommodation at Ronald McDonald house in Southampton. The money has also helped fund additional training for the staff in both SCBU and Robin Ward.
Last year, the Jersey Dog Forum topped the fundraisers’ board with over £7,000 raised. Split in to two teams, Unleashed and Underdogs, the small group of 20 dog-lovers raised the funds through cake and toy sales as well as several auctions for dog lovers.
Over 700 competitors took part in the games which included a bouncy obstacle course, wet slides and dressing up. Over 3,000 members of the public also attended the showground to see the teams, 64 last year, battle it out for a good cause.
The charities aim to continue to hold It’s a Knockout annually and hope to raise even more funds this year. Islanders are invited to form teams and register for the event which costs £250 for a maximum of ten people.
The Knockout event page promises the day to be “an absolute blast full of fun, water, foam and lots of laughs, and all for a wonderful cause – the precious babies and children in the Special Care Baby Unit and Robin Ward at the Jersey General Hospital.”
