After a 20-day search and more than 100 sightings, infamous rescue dog Seth has returned home.

The adventurous pup was lured into a crate with roast chicken on Sunday evening.

Seth, who was rescued from a Bulgarian gypsy camp, had lived with his new owner for just one day before he embarked on a 20-day adventure around St Ouen.

There were over 100 sightings during that time, with anyone who spotted him under strict instructions not to approach or chase him, as this made him anxious.

Seth spent multiple nights circling his home, visiting his owner’s driveway for food, and often sleeping in his neighbour’s garden.

But after efforts failed to lure Seth back inside his home in Grantez, his owners decided to set up a pen.

On Sunday night, as he tucked into warm roast chicken, the door dropped and the crate tunnel closed – leaving Seth with the realisation that his adventures were over.

Gail Bennie, who helped organise the rescue efforts, said she had “been on the bubbles” to celebrate the Bulgarian pup’s safe return home.

She extended her gratitude to everyone who helped in the search for “intrepid explorer” Seth – including the St Ouen’s Honorary Police, members of the Environment Department and the Lost Dogs in Jersey Facebook group, local vets and the JSPCA.

Gail said: “On behalf of Seth’s owners, who are so delighted to have him home (and even more ecstatic that he chose to jump up onto the sofa and be close to his captor within three hours of being home), we would like to thank so many people for their help and support.”

She added: “I’m taking a few days away from my phone now. Hope you all get to meet Seth sometime, once he’s settled into his new life and learned that not all people are cruel.

“His owners are ready to show him what it’s like to be around good humans.”

The social media post announcing Seth’s safe return attracted over 2,000 likes and hundreds of comments.

One islander wrote: “There will be legends written of Seth – The White Dog of St Ouen.”

Another joked: “Seth goes on a 20-day bender, gets home, and wonders what all the fuss was about.”
