A new neurological association has been named as the latest beneficiary of a Gorey café’s annual fish finger fundraiser – which has raised over £60,000 over the last two decades.
Rhona’s at the Beach café owner, Rhona Hewit, donates the proceeds of her famous fish finger sandwiches to a different local organisation each year.
In 2025, she celebrated raising over £10,000 for disability charity Enable Jersey, but this year’s fundraising is focused on a cause closer to home.
After being diagnosed with cancer, Ms Hewit met terminal brain cancer patient Sophie Reid, who she described as “an absolute force of nature advocating for people to ensure they get the best care and support for their condition”.
Rhona’s at the Beach will therefore be raising money for the Sophie Reid Neurological Association this year.

The not-for-profit organisation – which is not yet a registered charity – is dedicated to supporting those with neurological illnesses and aims to plug “gaps” Mrs Reid identified through her own experience with brain cancer.
Ms Hewit said: “I am super proud to support her association this year and look forward to seeing if we can set yet another record year of fundraising.”
This will be the café owner’s final year of fundraising as she plans to retire in 2026 after celebrating her beach kiosk’s 20th birthday in August.
