Alderney’s government is looking for a ferry operator to run a seasonal service to and from Jersey this summer – after previously giving financial support to services between the island and Guernsey.

The States of Alderney said it recognised the “importance of sea connectivity”, and is inviting ‘Expressions of Interest’ from ferry operators that can carry up to 12 passengers.

Alderney wants the service to sail at least four times a week between the end of May and the end of September.

There would be an option to extend the arrangement to 2026, if successful.

Interested bidders need to provide details of the vessel to be used and its passenger capacity, the proposed operating period including timetable and frequency, an indicative fare structure, and any subsidy required from the States of Alderney.

Successful applicants will be invited to provide a detailed tender with further information and a presentation will be given to the island’s Economic Development Committee.

The closing date for expressions of interest is 2 April.

Operators should first contact the States of Alderney’s policy and strategy lead Jamie Laband at jamie.laband@gov.gg or 01481 820021
