But Airport staff say despite their decision this week to follow the UK and step up security because of bomb plot threats, they don’t expect the queues to be any longer than normal for this time of year.
Security has been tightened following a US warning of a credible threat that Al-Qaeda has been developing bombs that can be smuggled onto planes, without showing up on airport scanners.
Islanders will still have to put liquids into a clear bag, take out laptops and take off their belts and shoes when they go through to departures but the Ports of Jersey won’t say what the extra security measures will involve.
Ports Security Manager Ruth Thomas said: “For obvious reasons we will not be in a position to comment in detail on these changes, but would like to reassure passengers that the safety and security of the public continues to be our paramount concern.”
