SGB Hire Channel Islands has ceased trading with immediate effect after more than 70 years of serving the Island.
The business has not confirmed how many individuals have been impacted by the decision or why it was taken.
In a statement issued this afternoon, chair of Jersey’s Construction Council, Adrian de Gruchy, said the sector body wished to “recognise the impact on all parties affected, including the directors, employees, clients, sub‑contractors and suppliers”.
“The Council will not comment on the factors or circumstances that may have contributed to the decision to cease operations. SGB has been a longstanding provider to the construction and domestic markets for more than 70 years, delivering hire services and associated support across the Channel Islands,” the JCC added.
