Jersey’s branch of UK footwear retailer Shoezone is set to leave the high street.

The store, which was one of the few remaining shops exclusively selling footwear in St Helier, has launched a closing down sale to sell remaining stock.

This follows difficulties faced by the business during the last couple of months in the UK, with The Mirror recently reporting the firm had suffered financial losses of more than £5 million and further store closures.

It was also reported that the company had attributed the losses to the conflict in the Middle East which, the company said, had led to a lack of consumer spending, alongside increased costs for containers and transportation.

Shoezone UK has been approached for comment regarding the closure of the Jersey branch.
