Bros frontman Matt Goss and the voice of Spandau Ballet Tony Hadley are among the 1980s music icons set to take to the stage at Weekender next month.
The local festival has teamed up with UK retro festival brand Let’s Rock for a Saturday dedicated to classic 80s hits on 12 September at People’s Park.
Leading the line-up is former Bros frontman Matt Goss, who will be joined by former Spandau Ballet singer Tony Hadley, synth-pop star Nik Kershaw and Scottish duo Hue and Cry.
More artists, including local support acts, will be announced in the coming weeks.
The announcement follows the festival’s Friday reveal that Alex James’ Britpop Classical will headline the opening night of the two-day event on 11 September, offering festivalgoers a contrasting celebration of 90s music before Saturday’s nostalgia-fuelled 80s party.
Festival organiser Warren Le Sueur said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have teamed up with Let’s Rock to bring an unforgettable party featuring some of the biggest icons of the 80s to People’s Park.
“Saturday is going to be an incredible, hit-packed celebration from start to finish.
“Since we announced the event, the appetite for both days has been massive, and we can’t wait to deliver two totally unique show experiences over one weekend.”
