Shot-putter Zane Duquemin and international netballer Serena Guthrie have made it on to the shortlist, along with two Guernsey athletes: cyclist Tobyn Horton and squash player Chris Simpson.

Zane Duquemin (22) represented Great Britain at shot put at the European Team Championships in Gateshead.

Serena Guthrie (24) was part of England’s Netball Team which achieved massive success last year with a first ever series victory over Australia.

Last year’s award was won by Sark’s Gold Medal Olympian Carl Hester, with a special achievement award for Jersey RFC.

Of the Guernsey nominees, 26-year-old Tobyn Horton cycled his way to victory for Team UK Youth and 27-year-old squash player Chris Simpson reached the semi-finals at the Malaysian Open, won the Nottingham Open & Jersey Classic titles and reached the final of the London Open at the end of last year.

The winner will be announced at the Channel Islands Sports Awards ceremony on Thursday 30 January.
