She’d been taking photographs when she got stranded near the lighthouse just after 2.30 pm.

Several people called the Coastguard to let them know the woman was stuck and waving for help.

Firefighters launched their rescue boat at St Brelade and found her unhurt but cold.

She was then taken back to St Helier in the RNLI lifeboat who had also been called out to help her.

Crew Commander Andy Gallie said: “This incident highlights the importance of knowing the tide times and remaining vigilant when visiting coastal areas as the tides in Jersey turn very quickly and have historically caught many people out.”
