A taxi driver has admitted driving at more than twice the speed limit along La Grande Route de St Jean.
Shiu Pang Mo (54) drove his black Nissan at 41mph on a stretch of road with a 20mph speed limit.
The Magistrate’s Court heard that the incident happened at shortly after midnight on 3 May.
Mo admitted the offence and said: “I have no excuses. It was a bad mistake.”
He added: “Driving is my only source of income.”
Relief Magistrate Peter Harris pointed out that the speed limit is in force all day, even though the risk late at night is much lower.
He added: “As a driver you need to be extra, extra careful.”
He decided not to impose a driving ban but endorsed Mo’s licence – so that it will bear a record of the offence for three years – and fined him £350.
