A teenager has been arrested after a Second World War truck was vandalised at St Catherine’s Bunker earlier this week.
The States of Jersey Police confirmed the arrest was made on Wednesday afternoon.
Two other suspects have been identified as part of an ongoing investigation into damage to the 80-year-old GMC military truck, according to the force.
The incident took place in the early hours of Monday morning at the historic site that once served as a stronghold for German forces during the Occupation.
Chief of Police Robin Smith said: “I share islanders’ dismay following the act of vandalism to an important artefact that reminds us all of a crucial period in our history.
“Yesterday, States of Jersey Police arrested and interviewed one suspect and identified two others.”
Jersey Bunker Tours, which runs the heritage site in partnership with Jersey Seafaris and Ports of Jersey, said volunteers were hopeful the truck could be repaired in time for Liberation Day.
Mr Smith added: “I’m delighted the Jersey Bunker Tours will be open for Good Friday and recognise all the hard work of the volunteers in getting the historic truck ready for Liberation 80.”
