A 13-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of breaking into a burger restaurant and stealing a till containing around £900.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, saw suspicious activity or has access to CCTV or door camera footage from the area.

At approximately 4:15am on Wednesday morning, at least four individuals gained entry to Happy Bun, which is on the Parade next the Town Hall, according to a police statement.

The individuals allegedly stole a till containing up to £900 in cash, bottles of wine, and smashed a tip jar.

The till has not been recovered.

The Mercedes keys

A police witness appeal said: “A 13-year-old male has since been arrested in connection with the investigation. At the time of his arrest, he was found in possession of keys belonging to the property and the stolen till. He was also found in possession of a key for a Mercedes vehicle.

“Officers are continuing enquiries to locate the outstanding till and are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident, saw suspicious activity in the area around the time of the burglary, or has information that could assist the investigation.

“Police are also keen to identify the owner of the recovered Mercedes vehicle key and ask anyone who believes it may belong to them to get in touch.
