A foundation which supports local charities working with children and families is seeking new board members.

Two islanders are sought to sit on the board of The Bosdet Foundation – which supports a number of local charities that work with children and families.

Applications are open now – with a “particular welcome” for those experienced in supporting children.

Income for the foundation comes entirely from the profits of the Les Ormes Resort, meaning every stay in the resort, padel match, haircut or trip of Jump Jersey quietly supports children and Islanders in need around Jersey.

Through the profits from Les Ormes, the foundation will have a £700k budget by 2030, and will be dedicating £1 million a year to its charity work.

As the work continues to grow, the Bosdet Foundation is seeking new board members to strengthen its board.

The foundation will welcome applications which add a broader range of knowledge to the board, but no prior board experience is required.

The role is unpaid and voluntary, and members are asked to attend around five board meetings each year, plus a small number of sub-group meetings.

Roger Trower, chair of The Bosdet Foundation, said: “Bosdet is a special part of island life, even if many people don’t realise the connection.

“When you visit Les Ormes, you’re helping fund real support for Islanders who need it.
We’re looking for two people who share that sense of purpose – you don’t need
boardroom experience, just good judgement, generosity of spirit and a genuine interest
in Jersey.

“I’d encourage anyone who’s curious to get in touch for a coffee and a chat.”

The two new members selected will succeed Alison Fossey MBE, who recently retired after a career as a senior police officer, and Advocate Tony Robinson.

Mike Graham, managing director of Les Ormes Resort, said that both “made outstanding contributions” to the charitable work of The Bosdet Foundation.

Interested applicants are asked to send a short summary of their experience to Mr Graham at mike@lesormesjersey.co.uk to plan an initial conversation.

Shortlisted candidates will meet the chair and board members before final appointments are made in December – ahead of the role starting in the New Year.
