tumble dryer fire

Two fire engines and an ambulance were sent to flats in Grands Vaux after the Fire Service received emergency calls around 23:15 last night.

The firefighters found smoke coming out of a first-floor flat window, which had also reached the communal hallway and a flat above where the fire had broken out.

Power to the tumble dryer had been turned off by one of the residents, so fire crews used a hose to extinguish the fire.  They also used a ventilation fan to clear the smoke and made sure nearby residents were ok.

The fire service hasn’t yet released the exact cause of the fire.
