Giles Corbin (45), a partner at law firm Mourant Ozannes, was airlifted for treatment at Southampton Hospital trauma unit last weekend after a speedboat crashed into his side while he was a passenger on a jet ski in St Brelade’s Bay.

Mr Corbin underwent several operations whilst in Southampton to remove material embedded in his right leg and to curb infection, as well as work to repair his shattered knee. He was then transferred to Salisbury Hospital Foundation Trust’s Burns and Plastics Unit, where he has remained since Friday morning.

Mr Corbin has now undergone another operation to reconstruct his damaged bones, muscles and ligaments. The 12-hour surgery also involved a skin graft using material from Mr Corbin’s left leg.

While the injury and subsequent surgery were said to have led to some pain, Mr Corbin this morning reported being, “…on top of pain and more optimistic.”

He also said that first impressions suggested that surgery was “a great success.” 

“I have so many experts to thank for my progress so far.

“Many thanks for all your best wishes and prayers,” he added.
