An upturned boat has been brought safely ashore after a trawler spotted it around three nautical miles east of Gorey this morning.
Jersey Coastguard requested the launch of the Jersey Lifeboat Association’s inshore lifeboat Albert Pinel at 9.28am on Wednesday 28 October.
Four volunteer crew members headed around the Island’s south-east coast towards the reported position, receiving updated sightings from local fishing vessels along the way.

The information helped the Coastguard prepare search instructions, but the crew spotted the upturned hull just before beginning their search.
They assessed the boat and passed details to the Coastguard, including the position of its outboard motor, broken mooring equipment and identifying marks on the vessel.
With no evidence of anyone in the water, and concerns that the overturned boat posed a hazard to other vessels, the crew decided to turn it upright and tow it to Gorey.
They successfully righted the boat and brought it back to the harbour, where the Ports of Jersey Marine Services team recovered it ashore.
Albert Pinel then returned to St Helier, where the lifeboat and its equipment were washed, checked and prepared for the next call-out.
The association praised its volunteers, the local fishing vessels that provided information and Jersey Coastguard for coordinating the response.
