Earlier this year, DfI held a consultation with Bel Royal School parents and other members of the community regarding pedestrian safety in the area.

Following on from comments made at this public consultation, several improvements will be made. These include:

  • a new light controlled crossing on St Peter’s Valley, just to the north of St Aubin’s Inner Road;
  • a new bus shelter at the first bus stop to the east of that junction;
  • a new pedestrian refuge on St Aubin’s Inner Road just outside the car showroom; and
  • allocation of road space to pedestrians, especially bus users, on the southern side of St Peter’s Valley opposite Rue de Haut.

As the road will be restricted to one carriageway, with temporary traffic lights in operation, drivers can expect delays when passing through whilst the work is being undertaken.

In anticipation of increased traffic on Rue de Haut than usual, it will be made one-way towards the east of the Island whilst the five week project is being carried out.

The works on St Peter’s Valley will be suspended for two days when the Battle of Flowers is being held.
