A ‘Red’ coastal warning was issued tonight, with forecasters saying that tomorrow will see the highest tide of the year, as well as a combination of high winds and swells.

Flooding is expected along the south coast, and roads are likely to be closed.

This evening, the States of Jersey Police and honorary officers closed roads in the south-east of the Island around Seymour Slip and La Rocque Harbour, and also the stretch of road running between St Aubin and La Haule in the south-west.

St Clement’s Inner Road was also closed near the parish church because of damage to the roof of a house.

Police warned Islanders who live near the coast that they should make sure that their cars are parked elsewhere if possible.

High tide is at 7.45 am tomorrow.

The police warning stated: “States of Jersey Police and our Honorary colleagues will be out monitoring the situation and taking necessary action.

“Please take care on the roads and if possible avoid the areas likely to be affected.

“Car owners with cars parked in the vulnerable areas are advised to park elsewhere if at all possible.”
