“Everything’s under control” is the thrice-repeated sting during the 41-second teaser trailer for the new Bergerac series – displayed with stuttering, crackling effects which suggest that, actually, all is not well.

Jersey’s most famous detective is due to return to TV screens this spring after filming took place in September and October for the second series of the reboot.

UKTV announced yesterday morning that a teaser trailer had been released “to give viewers a glimpse at what’s in store” ahead of “the hotly anticipated return of Bergerac to U and U&DRAMA in the spring”.

The first season, which aired in February last year, was watched by 2.4 million viewers across U and U&DRAMA – making it the highest-rated show on the network in 2025.

The new chapter will see Damien Molony return in the lead role of Jim Bergerac, and will focus on the murder of a groom in his hotel room at a wedding reception.

And while the short teaser does not give too much away, it does reveal a new love interest for the title character in the form of Nicola – played by Camilla Beeput.

Comedian and actor Adrian Edmondson has also joined the cast for the new series as Nigel.

Executive producer Islander Brian Constantine said it was “incredibly exciting to see Bergerac returning to our screens this spring”.

He continued: “The response to the first series was fantastic, and season two builds on that in every way: the scale, the emotion and the ambition are all bigger.

“We’re absolutely thrilled with how the new series looks, and Jersey once again plays a vital role as a character in its own right, providing a stunning and atmospheric backdrop to Jim Bergerac’s most challenging case yet.”
