A young Islander was on a “watermelon sugar high” last weekend – after being selected to receive VIP tickets to see the finale of Harry Styles’ record-breaking 12-night residency at Wembley Stadium in a video that has now gone viral online.

A clip capturing 15-year-old Charlotte Small’s emotional journey from having backrow seats in the giant venue to practically being able to touch her favourite popstar has since been watched almost a million times.

And the reel – posted on Wembley’s own Instagram page – was liked by Harry’s own mother.

JCG student Charlotte’s incredible story begins at the start of June, when she and her mum Rhiannon planned for an active weekend in London: meeting friends, shopping, seeing the city’s sights, and seeing Harry at Wembley.

Fog and rush

However, the weather gods had other plans, and pea soup fog at the Airport severely disrupted their schedule. They still managed to see the concert and Harry was amazing but, as it was, it just wasn’t the weekend they had envisaged: rushed and uncertain.

Fast forward to this month, and Rhiannon said she would meet Charlotte in London at the end of her year 10 daughter’s school Theatre Studies’ trip to make right the past disappointment.

With fortune favouring the tenacious internet searcher, Rhianon found tickets for former One Direction star Harry’s last concert for just £60 per person.

Arriving at Wembley, the pair soon realised why the tickets had been such a bargain: their seats were in the final row of the final section of the highest stand.

But luck was on their side: two Wembley-branded people approached them and asked the pair to explain to camera what Harry meant to them.

Charlotte has been a Harry Styles fan for as long as she can remember

Charlotte’s emotional response – she really does love Harry – left the stadium’s marketing duo in no doubt as to who should win their concealed prize: an upgrade to VIP seats, which included access to the Sir Bobby Moore lounge, with its drinks, sweets and face-painting.

“Best day of my life”

Charlotte said: “It was just the most magical, magical night ever; the best day of my life.

“We were so close to the stage; there was a DJ playing before Harry’s appearance and we turned around to see Harry standing just behind us, in a dressing gown, filming the set.

She continued: “It was the last concert of his Wembley residency so the atmosphere was incredible. I have loved Harry for so long; he can hold the stage so well on his own and he has such a connection with fans. His sister also came on stage and gave such a lovely speech about him.”

“Did I dream that?”

The official Wembley reel featuring Charlotte and Rhiannon’s upgraded experience has been viewed 914,000 times and liked by more than 25,000. It reached the Instagram feeds of friends and family within an hour of it being posted.

“The next morning, my first thought after waking up was, ‘did I dream that?’ said Charlotte.

“We both had to pinch ourselves to check that it had actually happened. I’ll never forget that night.”
