So who had the names of Brain, Goodenough and Toogood?
Jersey Heritage took a look back through the archives…
Alfred Frederick Prince Albert Mallett
… incurred a one-pound fine in 1894, having been arrested for an “unprovoked assault”.
Hero Basil Anthony
… died in Havre des Pas in 1931. The funeral director’s report gives “Anthony” as his last name.
Lancelot George Albert
Perhaps a traveller from the Arthurian world, Lancelot arrived in Jersey in 1916.
A travel permit gives his age as “18 1/2” and his occupation as “seaman”.
Nancy Primitive Goodenough
Perhaps a model of humility, Nancy was married at the Town Church in 1876.
Douglas Home Blackadder Bett
Douglas’s will and testament are in Jersey’s archive. Originally from New Zealand, he lived in St Brelade.
He did not pass his middle names down to his son.
