The coastguard was alerted early this morning and the lifeboat sent to recover the body.
At the moment police say it is not possible to confirm whether it’s 75-year-old Valerie Jehan who went missing nine days ago.
Her handbag was discovered on the cliff at Devil’s Hole after an extensive search involving all the emergency services.
The Deputy Viscount has been consulted and a Home Office Pathologist will conduct a post mortem examination to formally identity the body.
Police have contacted Mrs Jehan’s family to tell them a body has been found.
