A Broad Street office building which used to house the Government is set to be turned into a yoga studio and personal training space after planners gave it the green light.
The ground floor area is currently empty, though offices upstairs are being used.
Architectural Technician Jake Holley noted that the wellbeing space could even benefit the workers upstairs.
The planning application for change of use was approved this week.
Ten islanders voiced their support for the application.
Elloise Torpy said there would be “high demand”.
“Looking forward to it,” she added.
Paul Burrows said he hoped that with many business units staying empty, “this goes some way to injecting new life into the town”.
Daniel Tardivel echoed these comments, saying that with work patterns shifting, more office space was becoming available and the plans were “a practical and forward-thinking initiative aimed at fostering a more vibrant town atmosphere”.
