A splash of colour is set to hit Jersey’s roads after young Islanders helped bring Jersey Post’s newest electric vehicles to life.

More than 50 budding artists aged between five and 18 submitted colourful designs after the postal service called on the community to help give its small electric vans some personality.

Islanders also came up with more than 140 suggestions for what the new vehicles should be called via social media.

Jersey Post chief operating officer Julie Thomas said the vans were “so cute and full of personality” – and even have “a smile between their headlights”.

“We wanted to get our community involved in creating the personalities of our mini vans, to celebrate the incredible creativity and imagination that we have on-island,” she explained.

With a “fantastic” standard of entries across both competitions, choosing the winning artwork and names proved “very hard”.

None of the young artists’ efforts will go unseen, with all 50 pieces of artwork showcased in an exhibition at the Bond Street Post Office until 8 September, giving Islanders the chance to see the colourful designs up close.

And the winners are…
