The alleged break-in and theft happened last Wednesday (5 July) between 12:00 and 12.30pm at one of the flats within the La Tour Orange Le Coie building on Janvrin Road, officers said.

A pink Chanel purse containing multiple bank cards and ID was taken, according to police, who said that damage was also caused inside the flat and communal areas – which was suspected to have been caused by a hammer.

The force has said that two boys estimated to be between 12 and 16-years-old were seen in the area.

Both were reportedly wearing dark clothing with dark face coverings, with the taller of the pair said to have been carrying a hammer.

The boys were believed to have been in the area of Roberts Garage prior to the incident and seen running out of the front doors of the Le Coie building and along Janvrin road towards the Grand Marche Co-op, according to police.
