A mixture of online and in-person events to benefit Music In Action's outreach and education work.

The Liberation International Music Festival 2021 launched on Liberation Day with a spectacular online concert featuring over 100 Jersey musicians, setting the tone for the next 6 weeks of the festival, as the pandemic restrictions are lifted, and we can celebrate our beautiful island and its people. Hosted by Jess Dunsdon and starring the Optimistic Voices, Jersey Sings choir, Jersey Chamber Orchestra, Musical Originals, Ben Lewis and international soloists including violinist Harriet Mackenzie and guitarist Morgan Szymanski, it also featured readings of occupation memories from Theresa Tabb's book read by local schoolchildren of the same age as the islanders at the time. You can still watch the concert online for the next 28 days: https://www.musicjersey.com/liberation-festival

The festival will champion the musicians of the island and welcome internationally renowned artists to Jersey virtually. Including a mixture of socially distanced outdoor concerts and virtual concerts that audiences can enjoy from the comforts of their own home, the 2021 Jersey International Music Festival truly has something for everyone!

As Music in Action continues their education and outreach efforts, all ticket sales for this year’s festival will help fund the charity’s work in the community.

Chairman James Mews stated, “We were passionate about creating some live musical events to lift the island after such a challenging year.  Of course lock-down hasn’t been as difficult as life for those in the occupation.  But for islanders today, as we look back at the panic about whether there would be food in the shops, the stay at home orders and curfews, the ban on travel, will probably be the closest that we get to experiencing those terrible times.  This year, in particular, we believe that the joy experienced by those taking part in the Festival will be incredibly special.”

Music in Action is a Jersey charity whose mission is to educate and inspire children and provide “therapeutic” help to the elderly and infirm; provide magical live music performed by international stars; create platforms for Jersey artists; and offer opportunities to help upskill those looking to develop artistically.
