The Green Lions have confirmed they’ve been removed from this year’s FA Cup, after a player in their first match in the campaign was not registered correctly.
GFC had drawn against Bedfont Sports Club FC last weekend, with a replay being scheduled – but instead GFC are out, and Bedfont Sports are through to the Preliminary Round.
Confirming the news last night, GFC said: “We have received official confirmation that Guernsey FC has been removed from this season’s competition, and that Bedfont Sports Club FC has been awarded the tie and will progress to the Preliminary Round.”
It’s not been made public who the player is, but earlier this week, prior to the FA’s decision, the club said it was “due to an issue on his registration form”.
The club self-reported the error as soon as it was realised.

After an eight-year absence from the competition, Guernsey FC had re-entered the FA Cup for the 2025-26 season.
The club had said that playing home games at Victoria Park, the ‘new home of Guernsey Football’, made their ambition to play in the FA Cup possible.
They stated the new ground had allowed them to become financially sustainable and compete in major competitions like the FA Cup.
In their first game back in the competition, the Green Lions had showed promise with a 1-1 draw against the rising Bedfont Sports.
Guernsey FC will play their league football in the Southern Combination Premier Division this coming season, the Fifth Step of English Football, following their relegation last year.
Meanwhile, in a reverse of fortunes, Bedfont achieved promotion last season, moving from the Fifth Step to the Fourth Step.
Guernsey showed heart during the recent home clash between the two with Ross Allen hitting the back of the net, and sealing a draw, just five minutes after Bedfont’s Jude Jakes McKay had opened the scoring late into the second half.
The Green Lions league season now resumes this weekend.
They kick off their campaign against Wick. Kick off is at 14.00 at Victoria Park.
