The Green Lions are on the road this evening, in their penultimate match of the season against Binfield.
The Green Lions are currently third from bottom in the Isthmian league south, but are the only side with a slim chance of escaping the drop. If they do manage to avoid relegation it will only be by dooming Metropolitan Police FC to the drop instead.
How can they avoid the drop?
Guernsey FC are currently 5 points behind the Met Police, who only have one game left. If they win it, Guernsey will be relegated.
If the Met Police don’t win their last game, GFC have a chance to stay up if they win their own remaining two games this evening (Binfield, 7:45pm Kick Off), and again on Saturday (Harrow Borough, 3:00pm Kick Off).
If the Met Police draw, Guernsey would need to win both of these games by a six goals a piece in order to avoid the drop.

Tonights opponents
Binfield are safe from relegation, and are also out of the chase for the top places. That means the only thing they’re playing for is pride, fun, and maybe to cement their confidence after the UK side’s successful visit to Footes Lane, when they took all 3 points in a 1 – 2 win.
It could be therefore be a good time for Guernsey FC to visit them as Binfield have less to play for, and are coming off the back of a 4 – 1 loss away to play-off chasing Leatherhead.
Travelling doesn’t seem to be a huge issue for the Green Lions. Their form is fairly consistent both home, (6W, 4D, 11L) and away, (3W, 5D, 11L).
With a slim, but still burning, chance of survival in the Isthmian South Central Division the two remaining away games of the season leave everything to play for, as the final opponents Harrow and Borough aren’t in a dissimilar position to Binfield.
However, using that logic, the Met Police may have nothing to worry about in their own fight for survival as their final match is against the already relegated Sutton Common Rovers on Saturday.
