Guernsey’s triathletes will be aiming for medals at the Orkney Island Games
For some of those competing it will be their first Games, but for others there is plenty of experience they are bringing to the competition.
The teams are missing the individual gold medalists from the Guernsey competition in 2023, Josh lewis and Megan Chapple, but still pack plenty of punch.
The women’s squad is made up of Chloe Truffit and Amy Critchlow, who both competed last time out, alongside Hannah Kennedy and Lindsay Sword.
Critchlow, who took bronze in Guernsey, will be going to her fifth Island Games.
“After the shortest ever retirement from the Island Games I’m very happy to part of a really strong and youthful women’s team,” she said.
“I hope my ‘veteran’ experience can add to our success and we come away with another team medal and individual success. This will be my fifth and definitely final Games and I’m really looking forward to the Orkney experience.”
Kennedy has represented Guernsey as part of the swimming team, but this will be her first as a triathlete.
‘Approaching 100 days until race day, the excitement of an away games and my first Island Games triathlon is building. I can’t wait to get to Orkney and race.”
Sword said: “The Island Games is such a unique experience and I can’t wait to put on the green race suit and represent Guernsey alongside an amazing team.”
Guernsey’s women took gold in the team event in 2003.

The men’s team consists of a trio who have Games experience in Dave Mosley, Chris Norman, and Ove Svejstrup alongside three newcomers in Ethan Woodhead, Dan Armsden, and David Fairbrother.
Woodhead has only competed in the sport over the last two seasons.
“After spectating at the last Island Games, I knew it’s what I wanted to do,” he said.
“I’m so excited to be a part of the team and represent Guernsey in Orkney.”
Team Manager Alan Rowe said: “I’m really excited about the prospects for our Triathlon Team in Orkney. The final round of selections feature both debutants and athletes already experienced at this level. The whole team is preparing well to be ready to represent Guernsey with pride and determination at what is likely to be a unique Island Games experience.”
The Leonard Acott Foundation are supporting both the Island Games team and the club’s juniors.
