Jersey won all of the Siam Cup matches on Saturday – with Guernsey’s men and women defeated across the board away from home.
Jersey rugby’s contingent won the Nash Cup, the Fallaize Cup and both the Men’s and Women’s Siam Cups. It is only the second time in their history that Jersey has had all four trophies in their possession at once.
More than 3,200 fans watched the various games, with Express‘ reporter describing the day as a display of “rugby excellence from the Caesareans” with “Channel Island supremacy returning to Jersey in what was, undoubtedly, one of the club’s finest days”.
The scores confirmed that it was not Guernsey’s finest day.

The Veterans lost the Nash Cup 38-26, and the Vikings were defeated 36-22 in the Fallaize Cup.
Having won both the men’s and ladies’ Siam Cup matches last year, Guernsey were soundly defeated 36-11 and 30-13 respectively this time round.
Among the Guernsey players selected for praise during the Men’s clash were Ciaran McGann, who starred in last year’s victory for the Sarnians. He put his team on the board with a couple of penalties just before the break in the Men’s Siam Cup match.
Anthony Armstrong’s late consolation point was also highlighted.
Meanwhile, Guernsey’s women were praised for “fighting on until the final whistle, with their admirable spirit very much respected around the ground”.

Jersey men’s head coach Myles Landick had praise for the Sarnian sides.
He said his team went in to the game determined to give it their all, after their bruising defeat at Footes Lane last time round.
“I thought today was a really professional performance,” said Landick.
“We knew it was going to be a tough game, especially after last season’s defeat at Footes Lane, which was a tough one to take.
“But this season we’ve had a pretty successful league campaign and to come here and beat a level 4 side with such a dominant display is really pleasing.”
But Guernsey and Jersey’s best players will be standing side by side at Footes Lane in just over a week’s time, when they turn out for a Channel Islands’ select to take on Sweden in an international clash to round out the season.
