Le Tissier was at the heart of United’s defence in the 2-1 semi-final win yesterday which sets up a meeting with Tottenham in the final on 12 May.

It took United less than a minute to take the lead at Leigh Sports Village when Lucia Garcia headed in.

They doubled the margin in the 23rd minute through Rachel WIlliams’ powerful header.

England forward Lauren James gave Chelsea a lifeline in the fourth minute of first-half injury time, but United held firm in the second half.

The semi-final was a repeat of last year’s final.

Chelsea won that encounter 1-0 in front of 77,390 spectators at Wembley.

Tottenham beat Leicester 2-1 in the other semi-final clash.
