Guernsey’s Junior athletes have the chance to be trained by Olympian Steph Twell when she visits the island this week ahead of the upcoming EY Easter Running Festival.
Twell has previously competed in the four-day multi-distance event, but on this occasion she’s also committed to leading an U13 training session and a Junior Endurance session on Thursday evening, before the races commence on Good Friday morning.
She will also be leading the warm-up for the relay race as part of the EY Easter Running Festival on Easter Sunday morning.

Ove Svejstrup, EY Partner and a long-term participant in the EY Easter Running Festival, said: “Watching Steph take part in the festival over the years, and for runners having the opportunity to race against her, is always such an amazing experience. We’re delighted to see her lead with these training sessions and give our future athletes an invaluable coaching experience they will remember for years to come.”
Chris Gillman, Endurance Director at Guernsey Athletics Club, added: “At Guernsey Athletics, we strive to put on events that are accessible to all and that showcase our wonderful island. The EY Easter Running Festival is perhaps the best example of that. The junior and senior festivals are set up to complement each other, and this allows us to accommodate athletes of all ages. The team aspect offers something a little different, whether you’re a family of four or a visiting club. We welcome athletes of all abilities, from newcomers to Olympians!
“Of course, Guernsey’s unique landscape is the backdrop for all of our races, and this gives visiting and local athletes an opportunity to run in places they’ve never tried before. We trust that this year will be another festival to remember!”
