Athletes, families and teams are gearing up for one of Jersey’s biggest summer sporting events as the countdown begins to this year’s Jersey Triathlon.

The Accuro-sponsored event will return on Sunday 28 June, bringing together competitors of all ages and abilities for a day of racing, fundraising and community spirit.

Over the past decade, more than 2,000 competitors have completed the main event, with participants travelling from both Jersey and further afield to take part.

What to expect?

This year’s event will feature five race formats:

  • The Standard + Team Relay: 1,500m swim, 40km bike, 10km run
  • Aquabike: 1,500m swim, 40km bike
  • Jersey Sprint: 750m swim, 40km bike, 5km run
  • Super Sprint: 400m swim, 10km bike, 2.5km run
  • Junior Triathlon: 50-300m swim, 1.5-8km bike, 0.6-2.4km run

Organisers say the variety of races aims to cater for both experienced triathletes and those trying the sport for the first time.

What charities will benefit?

Beyond the competition itself, the event will also support two charities: Brighter Futures and Sepsis Research (FEAT).

Brighter Futures supports parents, families and young people in Jersey through programmes focused on parent-child relationships, positive mental health and second-chance learning, while Sepsis Research (FEAT) funds vital research into the early detection and treatment of sepsis.

Competitors “travelling from across the world”

Paul Douglas, Managing Director of Accuro’s Jersey office, said the triathlon continued to bring together different parts of the Island community.

“The Accuro Jersey Triathlon brings together so many different parts of our community and it’s great to see that momentum building again as race day approaches,” he said.

Andrew Thomas, Managing Director of organisers 3D Events, said participation had grown “significantly” over time, “with competitors travelling from across the world to take part”.

“The event continues to make a positive contribution to the local community, and we’re grateful for the ongoing support of sponsors, volunteers and participants,” he said.
