Jersey Bulls FC hosted a blockbuster weekend at Springfield Stadium as the mens team held Step 2 side Worthing to a draw in the FA Cup, and women’s first team recorded a thumping 7-0 win against Old Tiffinians in their first ever competitive fixture.

Jersey Bulls Women

The Jersey Bulls’ Women put on an absolute clinic in their historic first fixture, beating out Old Tiffinians 7-0 to make for a jubilant occasion.

Jersey Bulls Women’s Manager Chad Morris said: “We said before that this was a massive occasion for us, being the first women’s team to play in the UK pyramid, but then again it was another game of football, their job was to come here and play football, which I think they did from the off.

“When it’s a big game and big occasion, the quicker you can hit the back of the net, the better, as everyone just settled into their game and just concentrated on playing football after the early lead.

“It was great to play our first ever game in front of a home crowd, and everything is looking very bright.”

The local outfit wasted no time in showing their ruthless intent, as No.10 Leah Morris commenced the team’s scoring in style, finishing a wondrous 35-yard lob over the keeper to make history, and put the hosts up 1-0.

Four more goals followed for the ladies in red, who found themselves 5-0 up at the break thanks to goals from Morris again, skipper Holly Sundby, Ella Brennand and Anita Tavares.

Morris rung the changes at half time, but Sam Silva was alive to make it 6-0 just after the restart and the rout was rounded off by Tavares with her second.

Jersey Bulls Men

On Saturday, the Bulls men’s first team hosted their biggest fixture to date in the club’s history, welcoming Step 2 side Worthing FC to a rowdy Springfield Stadium.

An impressive first half performance from Elliot Powell’s side saw them take the lead on 18 minutes thanks to captain James Queree’s spot kick after player of the match Rai Dos Santos was brought down in the box.

Star striker Lorne Bickley doubled the advantage just 2 minutes after the restart with a silky back-heel flick to mark his 105th goal for the club and send the crowd wild.

However, controversy reigned when a foul was given on the edge of the Bulls’ box, with Dos Santos deemed to have fouled his Worthing adversary despite claims he had won the ball, but credit to Razzaq Coleman, who curled the resulting free kick into the top corner leaving keeper Euan Van Der Vliet with no chance.

Worthing broke Jersey hearts with an equaliser not long after with a slightly unfortunate moment, Jay Giles pulling off an outstanding last ditch tackle which bobbled and ricochet off Worthing’s Temi Babalola and passed Van Der Vliet.

The Bulls held out for the draw, but manager Powell admitted he was “livid” at full time, despite his thinking it was “their best ever performance”.

The match will be replayed tomorrow at Worthing FC.
