Jersey Bulls Women beat Ash United 6-1 this weekend, continuing their stellar start in the South East Counties Women’s Football League Surrey Division One.
Holly Sundby scored a hat-trick and Anita Tavares scored two goals during the game at Springfield on Sunday.
Jersey Bulls Women manager Chad Morris said: “I think the girls put in a really good performance; all the credit to the players.
“When it’s these sorts of games, especially with the odd nine-versus-nine, the spaces are different on the pitch and that can slow the tempo.
“Fair play to the players though, they got up to speed quickly in that first half, kept the ball and got the job done.
“The idea was to move our opponents from side to side, to then try to penetrate through, which I think we did.”
Jersey Bulls Women have already scored 13 goals during their two back-to-back wins in the South East Counties Women’s Football League Surrey Division One.
Assistant manager Harry Walker said: “To have this opportunity is huge for the game locally, especially for the younger players, as the game’s ceiling is just getting higher on the island.
“Now, we’ve created a pathway and there’s an opportunity to stay on the island and play against good competition, so we’re in a good place to play some competitive football.”
