With the 106th edition of the historic Siam Cup on our doorstep, AIM Sports Editor Elliot Corbel welcomes Jersey RFC Men’s captain Evan Whitson to the studio for a fascinating insight into the mindset, preparation and discipline required to lead in as demanding a sport as rugby, and how to build a team culture worthy of expecting undefeated seasons and multiple consecutive promotions.
Whitson dives into his personal experiences in big derby matches back home in Wales and how it was to adapt to learning about the Inter Insular contest and what it means to both sides of the channel.
After personally lifting the second oldest trophy in international rugby last year as part of their historic consecutive 4-0 series home whitewash, Whitson and his men are hoping to buck the odds and bring the Cup home from Footes Lane this weekend.
Following an incredible season in the Regional 1 South Central with 21 wins and 1 loss on the final day of the season, the Jersey RFC are confident headed into what will no doubt be an exceptional showcase of Channel Island rugby.
