Leading the way this weekend were Jersey Wanderers, who etched their names into local football history by lifting the Upton Park Trophy for the first time in 37 years. Just a week after securing the Premiership 1 title, Wanderers completed a remarkable double with a 3-1 victory over Northerners in Guernsey.

The next generation followed suit, as St Paul’s U16s also brought home Upton honours with a convincing 4-1 win over Northerners.

Across in London, it was heartbreak for Jersey Hockey, who fell agonisingly short in the England Tier 2 National Final. Locked at 1-1 after full-time, the contest was decided by penalty shuffles, where Jersey were edged out. After such an outstanding campaign, it was a cruel end.

Jersey Cricket enjoyed another successful weekend on the international stage as they beat Denmark 2-1 in their mini-series as they continue their World Cup qualification preparation. Locally, Division 1 got underway on Sunday.

In rugby, the Junior Siam Cup once again showcased the future of the sport, with Jersey producing a dominant overall performance across the age groups. Victories in multiple categories – including U16 boys, U12 boys and girls, and strong performances right down to U7 level – reflected the depth of talent coming through the ranks.

Meanwhile, Jersey’s darts players enjoyed a hugely successful inter-insular weekend, claiming five of the seven trophies on offer. Standout performances included victories in both the men’s and ladies’ island team events, alongside dominant wins in the singles and pairs competitions.
