Dom Blampied, performance sport programme lead at Jersey Sport, said it is “inspiring to see the breadth of sporting ability on the island”.
He added: “To have 19 new athletes in this cohort is fantastic and Jersey Sport is delighted to be able to assist these athletes both financially with grant funding but also with access to a range of support services aimed at giving athletes the edge to compete at the highest level.”
Constable Andy Jehan, Assistant Minister with responsibility for sport added: “The success of the athletes selected for the 2024 pilot, both on and off the field, underlines the benefits of programmes such as this.”
“Reducing the potential barriers to training and competition is vital for athlete development and I’m pleased we can offer a range of support services to young sportsmen and women from a wide array of sports.
“I look forward to seeing how this new cohort progresses in the coming months and years.”
