Amdavad, India has been confirmed as the host of 2030’s Centenary Commonwealth Games.

The Commonwealth Sport Movement has formally ratified Amdavad, (also known as Ahmedabad), India, as the host city for the 100th anniversary of the Commonwealth Games.

The decision confirms that India will stage the landmark edition, which began in Hamilton, Canada in 1930.

The ratification took place at the Commonwealth Sport General Assembly in Glasgow, with a special projection announcing the decision.

The announcement was followed by a cultural performance for the delegates featuring 20 Garba dancers and 30 Indian dhol drummers, showcasing the culture of the state of Gujarat.

India’s bid, centred in the Gujarat city of Amdavad, was described as a compelling vision that will build on the foundations laid by the Glasgow 2026 Games.
