ASA TRIBE returned to form in dramatic style yesterday after reaching a superb century for Glamorgan on Day Two of their Rothesay County Championship fixture against Surrey.
Glamorgan endured a difficult start to the fixture after being bundled out for just 132 on the opening day, but they finished day one in the green after a remarkable bowling performance saw them turn the star-studded Surrey line up over for just 115.
With an unlikely 17-run lead heading into the second innings, Tribe opened the batting and completed his fifth First Class century, finishing the day unbeaten on 142 from 305 deliveries.
Alongside opening partner Zain ul Hassan, who himself took 4-26 with the ball to bowl Surrey out, the pair added 87 for the first wicket before Tribe combined well with his skipper Kiran Carlson at number four.
The pair added 114 for the third wicket, Carlson himself making a composed half century.
By the close of play, Glamorgan sat 339-5 and return today for Day Three with a lead of 356 with 5 wickets remaining.
Tribe was heavily tipped for a potential England test call up before the summer, however he missed out on the openers spot to Durham batter Emilio Gay.
After a challenging spell this season, this knock, which so far has included 15 boundaries, will go a long way to re-igniting both his own personal form and Glamorgan’s as a club heading into the final fixtures of the County Championship season.
